Ben 7

Never been the biggest fan of Ben Harper, no real reason just never got into his work. Saw his new video the other day with this new band and man was I ever surpised. Not only does he rip on guitar and slide guitar but his new music coming out is amazing. This new band came from when Ben was recording a double disc CD, Both Sides of The Gun and invited friend guitartist Jason Mozersky to come and record. Upon invitation to continue recording the next day, Jason arrived at the studio with longtime friends, drummer Jordan Richardson and bassist Jesse Ingalls, the session spawned not only the song Serve Your Soul but also the frame work for the Relentless 7. Summer of 2008 these 4 meet again and this time focused there engery on making a cohesive sound and record. What came out is a raw ravaging sound that provides for some timeless rock jams. This record kicks ass, from the bluesy down south track Number With No Name, to the emotional escape of Up To You Know, to the folky smooth ending of Faithfully Remain. This CD has so many elements that has be be caught by numerous listenings. BUY this CD White Lies For Dark Times, you won't be sorry. Favorite tracks: shimmer and shine, boots like these, and lay there and hate me. This CD has something for everyone, peep there myspace.com/relentless& for concert dates and news. Check them out in LA at the Wiltern Theatre May 28.
