Nothing Gets me going more than a woman that can sing play guitar and make very good tunes. LadyHawke aka Phillipa "Pip" Brown is such a woman who fronts and plays all the instruments on her debut self-titled CD. She took her name from "Ladyhawke" after a character played by Michelle Pfeiffer in the 1985 movie of the same name because she sees herself as a sort of pop superwoman creating radio-friendly songs with a single bound. Diddy Doin What

Diddy's been promising a full-on return to music for a while, and the hip-hop entrepreneur appears to be making his comeback the right way, by hyping the release of his upcoming Last Train to Paris album with a mixtape that dropped on Saturday.

Diddy announced the tape — produced by famed Chicago remixer Felix Da Housecat (Britney Spears, Ciara, Madonna) and released on Saturday — with a tweet in which he bragged, "Lectro Black is my dance music alter ego!!! Mr. Lectro Black is a bad mother----er!!! Close your eyes and jump!"

The electro-house mix is precisely what Diddy has been teasing for more than a year, with a Kanye-like mix of rapping and singing and a fervent promise from the Bad Boy boss on the thumping intro that, "We are the crush groovin', the body movin', the record makin' and the record breakin'. We go by the name of 'Lectro Black and we represent that dirty, dirty. We represent that electro, that funk, that hip-hop, that punk rock, the dirty, dirty. We ain't into that commercial, crowd pleasin' ass-kissin' DJ, 'throw yo hands in the air, wave 'em like you just don't care' sh--! We want your mind, we want your body, and we came to take your mother----in' soul!"

What follows is an hour of LCD Soundsystem-style throbbing club beats with a mix of Diddy's patented swaggering boasts, some Auto-Tune-tweaked singing and talking, and even a bit of breathless pleading, in which Diddy promises, "I'll blow ya mind ... you will be mine!" The through line is a series of calls from Diddy to an unheard Felix, as the Bad Boy impresario keeps pushing back his early-morning arrival time in the City of Lights.

The whole thing plays like a very long, trippy and supremely sweaty night at an underground dance club you probably can't get into, with tweaked out bits of MGMT's "Kids" thrown in for good measure about halfway into the mix. "World, get ready," Diddy warns as he pulls into the station near the end. "Can you hear the train? Last Train to Paris is comin' soon. ... Don't be confused. It's simple. 'Lectro Black ... I'm gonna f--- your mind up. I'm gonna take you to a place you're scared to go to. I'm gonna make you feel good. So this is what we call a warning shot." (courtesy of mtv.)

Now this is some interesting music. Tiga is the spawn of Montreal-born DJ/producer Tiga James Sontag. He has done a ton of remixes from Cory Harts "Sunglasses at Night" and Tomas Andersson's "Washing Up", Scissor Sisters' "Comfortably Numb" and Felix da Housecat's "Madame Hollywood". His new album CIAO is a electro dance album that keeps the head bobbing and feet grooving all night. I love his track "Shoes" the video cracks me up for some reason. This is so kool !And you thought conductive paint was boring. Say hello to the Humanthesizer, a joint creation between electronic musician Calvin Harris, Sony Music UK, and Bare conductive body ink, which turned 15 bikini-clad ladies into a giant Arduino-powered synth capable of playing Harris's track "Ready For The Weekend" though Max/MSP and Ableton Live. Each patch is triggered by one of the girls closing a circuit with her hands or feet -- you can see the "wires" painted on their arms and legs if you look closely -- and the final performance bounces right along in that blurry space between dancing and playing. You have to see it to understand -- check out the videos after the break.

LA ROUX

Found these guys the other day. LA Roux is a Synth-Pop duo from Britian. Made up of singer and synth player Elly Jackson, and co-writer and co-producer Ben Langmaid. They draw inspiration from The Human League, Heaven 17 and Yazoo. Their self-titled debut is out now and the single "BulletProof" is a hit gaining some radio air play. One of my new favorite bands is Miike Snow. A Swedish 3-piece formed in 2007 and is made up of singer/songwriter Andrew Wyatt and the producing team of Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg, also known as Bloodshy & Avant. They recently released there self-titled debut and there single "Animal" is getting some college radio play. They are described as Ah-a meets Animal Collective.
